May 1st Partnership for Prescription Drug Assistance
known as (PPA). The event took place on the steps of the Capitol.

 PPA provides assistance for more than 2,500 brand–name medicines and a wide range of generics. The program has helped more than 3.7 million Americans in all 50 states.


Emmy-Award winning Talk Show Host Montel Williams
is touring the country talking about a private –sector
initiative, to respond to the enormous need for
affordable prescription drugs

In addition to Montel Williams, the Governor was joined by Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden who warned consumers to be wary of other companies that claim to help them secure “free meds.”

 

PPA has helped more than 20,000 Idahoans during the past year to secure affordable prescription drugs.

The Giants program, initiated by the Office of the Governor, recognizes teachers who integrate real-life applications of science and technology into their classrooms. It is supported by a coalition of Idaho leading technology organizations: Hewlett-Packard, Idaho National Laboratory, Micron Foundation, TreeTop Technologies, and Washington Group International.

Governor Otter's Birthday  May 2, 2007
May 2nd is the Governor’s birthday. He is 65 years old this year.

There was a surprise birthday party for him last night. He was surprised!


 

He thought he was meeting with campaign supporters. He was given a limited edition BSU Bronco Poster commemorating
their perfect season.

Proclamation was in honor of Dee Fery who is retiring this June after 12 yearsas a commissioner with the
Idaho Commission on the Arts. She is a former chair of the Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts, and a Governor’s
Award recipient for Distinguished Service and Support of the Arts in 1996. She is a 2006 winner of the Distinguished Public
Service Award from the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies.

The Governor delivered Community Development Block Grant
checks to rural communities in McCall.

May 15, 2007

Dave Tuthill, the Director of the Idaho Department of Water Resources
 taking the oath of office in front of his family. In attendance were
Mr.Tuthill’s wife, two daughters, and mother.

Tuthill was appointed acting Director in January, and named
Director by the Governor last Month at the
Water Summit in Burley.

The GIFT program stands for Growing Idaho’s Future Teachers. It pairs young people with mentoring opportunities.
Those individuals then get needed training in order to maximize their potential to teach successfully.

 

May 17, 2007

The Governor and First Lady spoke with about 90 kids from the
Twin Falls area at the Idaho Supreme Court.

 


They fielded questions on everything from how much homework
they each get to questions about the Governor’s name.
May 18, 2007 Capitol for a Day in Kooskia

The Governor and employees of numerous state agencies

May 18, 2007 - Lewis-Clark State College Commencement Ceremony

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter and President Dene Thomas
of Lewis and Clark State College lead faculty and graduates at the
school’s spring commencement exercises held on Friday May 18th.

May 24, 2007
Governor arriving at the Academy Roosevelt Center School in Pocatello.  This school is for 1st through 7th graders.

Governor and First Lady visit a second grade classroom.

The Governor and First Lady greet members of the Pocatello
Rotary. Both the Governor and First Lady addressed the group
which is the third oldest Rotary Club in Idaho.

 

May 25, 2007

The Governor prepares to speak to a group at the Ranch of Jim Rogers
in Pocatello. The event was hosted by the Building Contractors
Association and area realtors who announced the creation of a
scholarship fund in the Governor’s name.

The Governor takes a photo with youngsters who helped at the
reception announcing the CL “BUTCH” OTTER Scholarship. The
scholarship was put together by the Building Contractors
Association.

 

May 31, 2007

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter is joined by Dr. Bob Kustra, President of Boise State University, and Milford Terrell on the
State Board of Education to announce funding  for the new voter approved College of Western Idaho.  Voters approved the creation
of the new community college  in May. This week the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation announced they
would donate $10 million toward that effort.
