HORSESHOE BEND TO HOST JANUARY
‘CAPITAL FOR A DAY’

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced today that the Boise County town of Horseshoe Bend will be Idaho’s “Capital for a Day” on Monday, January 26th.

The first-come, first-served open opportunity to meet with the Governor and First Lady, selected members of the Governor’s Cabinet, and other senior state officials is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Horseshoe Bend Senior Center, located at 109 S. Riverside Drive in Horseshoe Bend. The Governor also will join Mayor Mary Hanson, area legislators, and other state and local leaders for a no-host noon luncheon at the same location. Community members are encouraged to join the luncheon as well.

Among the state officials who will join Governor Otter at Capital for a Day are Pam Lowe, director of the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD); Dave Jones, ITD district engineer; Dick Armstrong, director of the Department of Health and Welfare; Cal Groen, director of the Department of Fish and Game; Scott Reinecker, Fish and Game regional supervisor; Fish and Game Commissioner Bob Barowsky; Dean Sangrey of the Department of Parks and Recreation; Kathy Opp, deputy director of the Idaho Department of Lands; Pete Wagner, Department of Environmental Quality regional administrator; Dave Tuthill, director of the Department of Water Resources; Don Dietrich, director of the Department of Commerce; Roger Madsen, director of the Department of Labor; Colonel Bill Shawver, director of the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security; Bill Deal, director of the Department of Insurance; and Kim Toryanski, administrator of the Commission on Aging.

“Pinched between the growing Treasure Valley and some of Idaho’s most beautiful and rugged backcountry, the people of Horseshoe Bend welcome recreationists and visitors all year round,” Governor Otter said. “While near Boise, Horseshoe Bend retains its rural character, and challenges. My Capital for a Day program brings state government to the people’s doorstep. We do our best to provide answers on the spot. And in every case we listen, learn, and carry with us back to Boise a better understanding of the issues and the people they affect. I look forward to hearing from the people of Horseshoe Bend and Boise County.”
