Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter signs the legislation for House Bill 557 that resolves a long running contentious legal issue over field burning in Idaho. The new law transfers authority for the field burning program from the Idaho State Department of Agriculture to the State Department of Environmental Quality. It also limits bluegrass burning on non-reservation land to 20,000 acres annually unless additional air quality analysis is performed. |
