Red Fish Lake  September 2, 2008
The Governor, First Lady Lori Otter, the their grandson J.C. Otter, and Cal Groen, Director of the Idaho Department of
Fish and Game, prepare to release the first returning sockeye salmon of the season into Redfish Lake near Stanley, Idaho.

The Governor thanks LeeJuan Tyler, a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe
after he sang a tribal prayer before releasing sockeye salmon into Redfish Lake.

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter poses with a group of students that participated in the Idaho Youth Conservation Corps (IYCC). The IYCC is a
pilot project that puts kids to work in outdoor jobs. The program is modeled after the Civilian Conservation Corp. (CCC) of the 1940’s.

 

September 18, 2008

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter stands in front of a Quest Aircraft Company Kodiak. The single engine turbine, 10 passenger aircraft is
produced in northern Idaho. The plane is in high demand for its rugged durability and short take-off or landing (STOL) flight characteristics.
 

The Governor gives the luncheon address to the Idaho Business
Aviation Association Industry at Western Aircraft in Boise. The
Governor spoke about the importance of aviation in the state.

 


The Governor poses with pilot Mike Pape, with the Idaho Department
of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics. Pape received the “Silver Scarf”
award for his contribution to the Idaho Business Aviation Association.

 

September 22, 2008
The Governor formally awards the IDAHO CROSS to Staff Sergeant Thomas D. Butler. SSG Butler received the award for his
actions on June 14, 2008 that resulted in the potential saving of the life of an elderly woman who was struck by a vehicle.

 

September 24, 2008
The Governor spends some time with students at the Christine Donnell School of the Arts. The Governor and First Lady unveiled the new
book “Ida Visits the Capitol” at an announcement in the school gymnasium. The book, paid for by private sponsors, is a gift to the children
of Idaho and will be provided to every 4th grade class in the state. The book informs children about important milestones in Idaho history.

Capital for a Day in Homedale, Idaho  September 29, 2008

The Governor addresses the audience assembled in Homedale, Idaho for Capital for a Day. When Governor C.L. “Butch”
Otter came into office in January of 2007, he stated that “we are the servants of the people, not their masters, and as such my
administration intends to bring state government to small communities all over this state through our “Capitals for a Day,” to
listen to, and then attempt to resolve their problems in their own home towns. That is one of the proper roles of government.”

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter recognizes the contributions of the Homedale
Volunteer Fire Department at Capital for a Day in Homedale, Idaho.

Ron Kiester, Manager for the South Board of Control, is recognized
 by the Governor during Capital for a Day in Homedale.

The Governor visits with students of the Homedale School District. The students are working on electrical circuits
in an innovative program that involves a public/private partnership between area schools and local companies.  





Weiser, Idaho  September 30, 2008
