American Legion Idaho Gem Boys’ State held at NNU.
The Governor spoke to the boys about his
responsibilities as Governor followed by questions
and answers. Afterwards he swore-in the Boys State
Legislature and Supreme Court Chief Justice.

2009 Governor’s Cup Scholarship Recipients June 12, 2009 |

The Governor poses for a picture with
recipients of the 2009 Governor’s Cup scholarships. The
Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship is available to high school
seniors and home school students throughout Idaho. All
proceeds from the Idaho Governor’s Cup are dedicated to
funding this program. Academic and professional-technical
awards are offered to those students who plan to further
their education at an Idaho college, university or trade
school and who demonstrate a strong commitment to public
service. Academic scholarship recipients receive $3,000 each
year, renewable up to four years, while scholarship
recipients pursuing a professional-technical education or
trade school education receive $3,000 per year for the
length of the program, up to three years.

Premier Technology in Blackfoot, Idaho.

auctioned off to raise money that will go
towards scholarships for Idaho school students.

Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter takes
part in a press conference announcing the creation of
CORE, a three mile-long health care, education and
technology enterprise zone that straddles I-84. The
event was hosted by Idaho State University at its
facility in Meridian.

After the press conference, Governor
Otter joined Idaho State University President Arthur
Vailas on a tour of ISU’s facility in Meridian which
is under construction. The University is expanding
its Treasure Valley presence to accommodate the
growing need for health-professions education in the
state and has purchased approximately 102,000 square
feet of a building that includes the offices of the
Meridian School District. The College of Pharmacy
will hold classes at the complex, eventually
allowing for the expansion of admissions to the
Doctor of Pharmacy program. Currently, half of the
third-year pharmacy class attends lectures at the
Boise campus via distance-learning satellite.
